Environmental Psychology Beyond the Academic Walls
Inspired by the European University Association’s vision of “universities without walls”, institutions that are open, engaged, and socially responsible, this slogan invites us to reflect on how environmental psychology can extend its reach beyond traditional academic boundaries.
The theme can be understood in at least three complementary ways. First, the field should engage directly with the environmental challenges that affect people’s everyday lives, contributing to healthier, more inclusive, and sustainable communities. Second, environmental psychology research should not be conducted in isolation. As an applied discipline, it depends on collaboration with policymakers, practitioners, community organizations, businesses, and citizens to ensure that scientific knowledge remains relevant, accessible, and impactful. Finally, the theme highlights the importance of studying behaviors that have tangible environmental consequences. By prioritizing the measurement of real and impactful actions, environmental psychology can generate knowledge that is both scientifically rigorous and socially meaningful.
The International Conference on Environmental Psychology under the auspices of the Environmental Psychology Division of the International Association for Applied Psychology (IAAP) will take place on 20-23 June 2027 in Wroclaw, Poland

This conference is organized by WASET and is entirely separate from the conference announced here. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated in any way with the IAAP, the Environmental Psychology Division, or any recognized international or European environmental psychology association known to us. We encourage prospective participants to verify conference organizers and affiliations carefully before submitting their work or registering.
