Keynote speakers

Wokje Abrahamse

Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
Dr. Wokje Abrahamse focuses on sustainable behavior, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the psychological factors that influence pro-environmental action. She examines how values, social norms, identity, and behavioral interventions shape individuals’ environmental decisions, particularly in areas such as energy conservation and sustainable food consumption.

Aleksandra Cisłak-Wójcik

SWPS University, Poland
Dr. Aleksandra Cislak explores the motivational underpinnings of the link between national identity and environmental attitudes and outcomes. Her research shows that defensive (but not secure) forms of national identity are linked to support for anti-environmental policies and opposition to pro-environmental initiatives (e.g., the Green Deal), while also fostering a strong preference for superficial national image enhancement (greenwashing). Ultimately, her cross-national analyses demonstrate that higher levels of national narcissism among citizens predict a lower actual state of environmental protection in a given country.

Matthew White

University of Vienna, Austria & University of Exeter, UK
Dr. Matthew White has a background in environmental risk perception, risk communication, and trust, but now focuses primarily on how natural settings, especially aquatic blue spaces, can benefit mental and physical health through a range of resilience-related resources and processes. He is currently PI on the Horizon Europe RESONATE project, looking at how nature-based therapies can build and maintain individual and community resilience across Europe.
